Overview
Global Art Island, Nodeul Island
After a busy day,
each person gazes at the Han River for their own reasons.
At the center is Nodeul Island.
A new beginning for Nodeul Island
that will delight your eyes and ears.
Welcome to Nodeul Island,
where music and art coexist.
FormationBackground
Located in the middle of the Hangang Bridge, this oval-shaped land is believed to have derived its name from 'Nodul', meaning 'a stone where egrets played'.
Nodeul Island, known as Jungjido from the 1930s to the 1950s, was a beloved urban cultural hub with a sandy beach and a skating rink in the heart of the Han River.
However, after several large-scale development plans were scrapped following the Han River development plans in the 1960s and 1970s, Nodeul Island became a nearby but inaccessible, forgotten island.
In 2012, efforts began to restore it as a cultural space that connects people as a place of rest and meeting along the Han River.
In September 2019, Nodeul Island was reborn as a 'complex cultural base mediated by music'.
Nodeul Island, reborn as a space made together with the dreams of many people.
We invite you to create beautiful memories in this space filled with nature, rest, and culture, built on the long-standing memories of citizens surrounding the Han River.
